Evaporator Coil Replacement & Professional Maintenance
If your Sub-Zero freezer is no longer freezing properly, even though the compressor and fan are running, the issue is often a leaking or corroded evaporator coil. We recently helped a homeowner in La Jolla who experienced a slow refrigerant leak from the evaporator coil located behind the rear panel. This is a common problem in older Sub-Zero 500 and 600 Series units, especially after 10+ years of use.
We replaced the evaporator coil with a genuine OEM part, performed a full vacuum and refrigerant recharge, and cleaned the condenser. The freezer was fully restored to proper operation in a single visit.
Sub-Zero units are built to last, but over time the evaporator coil can corrode and develop small leaks. In dual-compressor models, this failure may affect only the freezer compartment.
Common signs of evaporator failure include:
• Freezer not maintaining temperature
• Ice buildup behind the panel
• Short cycling or clicking sounds
• Food thawing
We provide full diagnostics, sealed system repairs, and preventive maintenance for Sub-Zero freezers throughout San Diego, Rancho Penasquitos, Rancho Bernardo, and La Jolla, using factory-grade OEM parts.
